Everywhere you go, and everywhere you look, it seems that people are talking about environmentally friendly
products, eco goods or their carbon footprint. Newspapers and magazines are full of informative articles.
We are no different here at R, E & L Thurlow Limited. On a personal level we recycle as much waste as we can.
We have a water butt in the garden and a compost bin that seems to produce excellent mulch for the garden.
We do have a 4x4 but that is a necessity, rather than a luxury, when you live in the wilds of Lincolnshire!
And we sell trees for a living!
We estimate that we must have sold somewhere in the region of 5,000,000 trees whilst we have been in business,
which must have had some positive impact on global warming.
Below are some ideas for items that can be used in gardens, parks, golf clubs, fishing lakes, schools,
nursing homes, etc. They are all environmentally friendly products made from recycled plastic, i.e.,
water bottles and sandwich wrappers. This helps reduce landfill waste, reduces co2 output and they can be
recycled again and again. They are all low maintenance – no varnish or paint required. Easy to clean.

A few other ideas that can make a difference to the environment:
1) Use bark mulch to cover the soil (it retains moisture)
2) Buy a bird box or build your own
3) Feed the birds - hang bird feeders from a tree branch
4) Old branches can be stacked to encourage insects and wildlife
5) Make a compost heap or buy a purpose made one
Just by planting a small copse of trees in the corner of your garden, or a small wooded
area if you have a larger space, can have a positive impact on the environment. Careful thought should be given to
the variety when choosing trees to plant as some species will grow to a height of 20m plus. We can help and
advise you on right type of tree to fit the right type of space.
Planting a more mature tree will obviously create more of an instant benefit that would planting saplings.
